How to Deal with WordFly Ads on Your Chrome / IE / Firefox

What is WordFly


WordFly is a browser add-on which works on popular browsers like Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. About it function, WordFly claims to "show the Wikipedia and Bing results in an in-page window" when you highlight your concerned words on any page, which makes it sound like a helpful tool.
However, there are some other traits of this plugin that it will not tell you. Users who keep WordFly will see these symptoms:
  • It displays commercial ads in the form of banners and floating boxes. These ads are not safe, they will redirect you to some dubious sites, which may contain malicious codes.
  • It add a task in the Windows Task Manager and install third-party programs secretly. The unwanted freeware are potentially dangerous that they may lead to browsing hijacking.

Step 1. Show hidden files to delete the junkfiles

1. Open Control Panel from Start menu and search for Folder Options;

Step 2. Remove the associated plugins from your Chrome, Firefox and IE.

For Google Chrome:
Open Google Chrome >>  Customize and control Google Chrome icon >> More tools >> click on Extensions >> Remove the related extensions
 

For Mozilla Firefox:
Open menu >> Add-ons >> Extensions and Plugins>>Remove the related extensions

For Internet Explorer:
Tools>> Manager Add-on >> Toolbars and Extensions >> Disable the related add-ons


Step 3. Remove related PUPs from Control Panel.


Click Start button, open Control Panel to choose Programs and Feature, then find the unwanted programs in the list, right click to uninstall them.


Step 4. Delete the modified registry entries to prevent its coming back.

This step is unnecessary if the adware does not come back after removal. Press Win and R buttons and type REGEDIT in the pop-up box. Remove related registry entries.
